Few composers make me think of Christmas time more than Bach. Perhaps it is because Johann Sebastian Bach was such a prolific composer that he was able to write so many works for Advent and Christmas, or perhaps it is because his music is so evocative of classical Christmas music to me.
Rehearsing can be a tedious process. You sing the same parts, over and over, making little changes, and hoping that everyone magically remembers all the little hints and reminders when you put the parts together so you don't have to do it all again.
Fall weather is finally here, and with it, come the rush of activities, events, and work that inevitably accompany a new school year. In the midst of all that needs to be done, I find myself looking forward, every week, to the two hours when there’s nothing to do but sing.
