A trip down memory lane

Over the years, CoroAllegro has explored the choral repertoire from chant to 21 century music. Now under the baton of Jeffrey Dokken, the ensemble is exploring secular music and stretching our choral wings and technique.

This spring season, "Broadway Music", is especially enjoyable for me. I grew up listening to Broadway musicals on my parents' record player - yes, record player, and singing along of course! In high school and college, I participated in musical comedy productions whenever I could - The King and I, South Pacific, Brigadoon, Damn Yankees, and The Red Mill are among a few that come to mind.

So for me, this repertoire is a trip down memory lane, as well as an introduction to musicals that I was not previously familiar with. Rehearsals have been fun and joyous as we explore this old but new-to-us genre together. We are excited to share this joy with you in just a few weeks!
