2018 Annual Picnic
A great choir is a joy to be a part of. The attention to the smallest of details in making music, the sense of co-creating something beautiful, the trust in each other and in the conductor that sets everyone at ease. CoroAllegro has all of this, along with one bonus element: a camaraderie and closeness that go beyond the rehearsal and the concert.
I speak mainly from my own experience, but I know from conversations with others that my experience is the norm within CoroAllegro. Many of the closest friendships that I have made in Delaware have been developed at Tuesday night rehearsals, monthly socials, and our annual picnic - a time when we can all get together to enjoy each other's company for no reason other than friendship.
At this year's picnic we gathered at Moonlight Farms, hosted by Lynn Bishop, to relax with some phenomenal food (I'm thinking of the deviled eggs and hand pies), drinks, and fun.
We toured the stables and pasture, went on a forest "adventure" (thanks again to all who humored my six year old's desire to lead that!) and spent an afternoon deepening relationships with each other and each other's families. We ended the evening listening to a recording of last week's Broadway performance in Bethany Beach (which raised $1750 for Operation SEAs the Day!), looking forward to next season when we get to prepare more beautiful music for our audiences in Delaware and beyond.
